Pumpkins: Where to get ‘em, What to do with ‘em, and Everything inbetween

It’s October and that means it’s officially Pumpkin season. We’re going to help you figure out where to get your pumpkins and what to do with them!

Where to Get ‘em!

Our favorite place to get pumpkins are pumpkin patches. If those are inaccessible, then your local grocery stores are your best bet. Some of our favorite places to go are Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and Sprouts. These three places acquire some produce from local farmers and farmers markets. You can also check out Christmas tree farms in October to see if they sell pumpkins. In the South Bay Area, our favorite pumpkin patch is Spina Farms located in Morgan Hill. Some other fun pumpkin adventures to check out before October ends is the Glass Pumpkin Farm in Los Gatos, the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival, or the plethora of farms and patches in Gilroy!

What to Do with ‘em!

Once you have your pumpkins, there’s a lot you can do to decorate your house. The classic go-to for pumpkins during the season is to carve them, but carving gets messy and the pumpkins will rot over time. A better and more creative alternative would be to paint the pumpkins. This allows the pumpkins to survive longer. No matter your artistic capability, you’ll be to decorate your home for the season. A great way to display your family’s creations is using one of our shelves to keep your home properly decorated for Fall. Our showroom is located in Sunnyvale, CA right in the middle of all the pumpkin patches! While browsing for pumpkins, come give us a visit!

Pumpkin Decorations on Shelfie

If you need gifts, a great go-to is to buy pumpkins, paint them or carve them, and then use them for the holiday season. By painting them, you can get pumpkins in October, and then gift them around Thanksgiving in November. This is a fun, personal, and affordable gift option.

We hope this helps you figure out how to explore buying and displaying pumpkins this holiday season.

Happy Halloween from our team here at Shirley’s Simple Shelving!
