It Started With My Plants
Shirley’s Simple Shelving began in 2013 when I retired to a smaller home in Sunnyvale, CA. I was delighted to spend much of my free time in the garden which was growing in size.
Soon after, I realized that I needed a shelf to display all my flowers and plants. I wanted a shelf that was simple, sturdy, customizable, didn’t require tools, and was easy to move around as my garden continued to grow. I searched far and wide but couldn’t find a shelf that met my needs… so I went out and created my own. Thus, the Shelfie concept was born!
My partner Robert helped me develop and test different sizes and shapes of the Shelfie until we settled on the variants in our Easy line.
How Our Shelfies Have Evolved
Our Easy series evolved over the years as we experimented with different dimensions and features. We spent 5 years researching and developing our product. We met amazing folks at craft fairs and interacted with the incredible gardening community, all of whom contributed bits of insight to our final product.
As a retired artist, I put my heart and soul into the design and Robert brought his manufacturing skills to each piece. We are endlessly inspired by our customers who are gracious enough to keep in touch, send photos and videos of their creative Easy set-ups, and give feedback on how to improve our shelves. We are so grateful for our incredible community of Shelfie lovers, and we look forward to hearing from you!
